Flow diagram showing identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and inclusion of studies evaluating infectious outcomes among patients with B-cell malignancies receiving covalent Bruton tyrosine kinase inhibitors (BTKis). ↓  Table 3. Recommended Reporting of Infectious Outcomes in Future BTKi Trials

Reporting domainInformation to report
BTKi: Bruton’s tyrosine kinase inhibitor.
Infection ascertainmentDefine each infection outcome; state whether infections were actively sought or passively reported, how they were diagnosed, and the period during which they were recorded.
Infection type and severityReport all-grade and grade ≥ 3 infections; name the infection site and organism when known; identify opportunistic infections; specify the grading system and its version.
Denominators and timingGive the number of BTKi-exposed patients at risk in each treatment group, number of patients affected, and number of events where relevant. Report treatment duration, follow-up, and timing of infections relative to BTKi initiation.
Patient and treatment contextReport underlying malignancy and treatment setting, prior anticancer therapy and transplant history, baseline immune status where available, corticosteroid use, and concurrent anticancer or other immunosuppressive treatment.
Infection preventionDescribe antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal prophylaxis, including who received it and when; report relevant vaccination or infection-prevention policies.
Infection-related mortalityReport deaths attributed to infection separately from all-cause deaths and describe how infection attribution was determined.
